The name should be unique. Once a name is taken, then the name is not allowed to be used by any other business form. Also, similar names to existing business would not be accepted.
The name must not an abbreviation, adjective or some generic word. These words are blacklisted and cannot be used. Also, if the firm is a financial organisation, then the words bank, stock and exchange cannot be used until it has been approved by RBI or SEBI.
There should be no common trademark by the same name in the IP India website. If there is already a name present and you want to keep the name, then a No objection certificate has to be given by the owner. Thus a trademark name search must be done beforehand.
The Company name must match the type of profession you are into. It must have a descriptive component. It cannot have unnecessary suffixes if the Company doesn’t deal with those services.
